Abstract

Temulawak (Curcumma xanthorriza) contains antibacterial compounds namely curcuminoid, Flavanoid and xanthorrizol which can inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Sensitivity tests generally use MHA but found several studies using NAP as antibacterial sensitivity test media. The purpose of this study was to determine differences in diameter of the inhibition zone of temulawak rhizome extracts with variations concentration of MHA and NAP in inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The experimental study used disc diffusion method with several extract concentrations 55%, 70%, 85%, 100% and difference MHA and NAP. In the Delima Husada Gresik Laboratory of Health Analyst in July 2019. The results showed that there were differences in inhibition zones on the MHA and NAP by giving variations in the concentration of temulawak rhizome extract on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria.The biggest inhibition zone diameter on the NAP was 32 mm at a concentration of 100%, on the MHA and NAP the results were 22 mm . Analysis of the data used Two-away ANOVA test with the results α <0.05 which means H1 is accepted. This requires that there are differences in inhibition zone in the MHA with NAP by providing variation in concentration using temulwak rhizome extracts against the growth of Staphylococcus aureus.
